DETAILED REFERENCE

How to identify the correct refrigerator water filter

This record tracks the GE MWFP. The safest replacement path is to match the exact product identifier and then confirm the appliance model against manufacturer documentation.

Manufacturer-backed replacement numbers

  • Replaces GWFS

GE parts data supersedes GWFS to MWFP.

  • Replaces MWF

GE identifies the older MWF filter as no longer available and replaced by MWFP.

  • Replaces MWFCH

GE parts data identifies MWFCH as replaced by MWFP.

A replacement/supersession entry is recorded only when an attached manufacturer source explicitly supports it.

Documented appliance models

This is an evidence-backed sample, not an exhaustive fit list. Model revisions and production changes can alter part requirements.

Before you buy

  1. Read the existing part label.Look for MWFP or a manufacturer-backed identifier shown here.
  2. Check the appliance model tag.Use the complete model and revision when available.
  3. Do not infer fit from appearance.A cartridge may fit without carrying the same filtration certification or OEM approval.
  4. Follow the service interval.Manufacturer guidance on this record is about every 6 months, subject to usage and appliance instructions.

Frequently asked questions

Can I search by appliance model instead?

Yes. The model-number lookup on the catalog homepage uses only documented mappings that have been added to our database.

Is this fit list complete?

No. We publish documented mappings as we verify them. A missing model means “not indexed yet,” not “incompatible.”

Can I trust an aftermarket fit list?

Treat it as a shopping claim rather than our compatibility evidence unless an OEM or manufacturer source supports the same mapping.
